The climb of Piz Cam is a true highlight of Bergell. Through the remote valleys of Val Maroz and Val Cam, where we have a chance to see ibexes and chamois, we climb higher and higher. To be rewarded on the top, the balcony, with a phenomenal view.

We gather at 08:30 at the entrance of Hotel Stampa in Casaccia. After a short inspection of the equipment, we immediately start with our first altimeters, to the Val Maroz. Where the Septimer Pass goes up on the right, we continue our way deeper into the valley. After a short break we start the climb to the Val Cam, a beautiful rugged valley, with fresh mountain streams and a great chance to see chamois.

And there starts the real ascent of the summit then. We leave the path and search our way up, sometimes slightly scrambling, but never so steep that ropes are needed. We let the beautiful view from the top during our ‘Gipfellunch’ work in on us for a while, after which the descent starts. Many serpentines bring us back to the valley, to Vicosoprano, where the bus eventually brings us back to Casaccia. Satisfied and with a real peak climb in the pocket!
